Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has invited the Indian cricket team to participate in the Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan.
Actually, the last time India and Pakistan participated in the Champions Trophy cricket series on Pakistani soil was during the 2008 Asia Cup.
According to the report, the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be an important event, which will be hosted by Pakistan.
Pakistan achieved success in this cricket series in 2017, while India won the title in 2013 and 2002.
Malik, on the occasion of the Champions Trophy 2025, emphasized on keeping politics away from sports and suggested that any bilateral issue between India and Pakistan should be resolved separately from their cricket related programs.
“Whatever differences there are between the two countries, they are separate issues and should be resolved in a separate way. Politics should not come into sports,” Malik said. He also said that last year the Pakistani team had a good experience by visiting India and now this is a good opportunity for the Indian team as well.
He expressed that he is confident that for many Indian team players who have not yet played in Pakistan, this will be a great experience. “We are very nice people. We are very hospitable people, so I am sure the Indian team should definitely come.”
Before Malik’s invitation, there were reports that the Indian cricket team is reluctant to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, the main reason for which is the ongoing political tension between the two countries.
For this reason, there is a demand for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to shift its matches to alternative venues like Sri Lanka or Dubai.
