Why Axar Patel and Washington Sundar given a chance in ODI cricket instead of Ravindra Jadeja?

An unforgettable name in Indian cricket, Ravindra Jadeja’s ODI cricket career may be curtailed.

The BCCI selectors have decided to move forward with Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, due to which Jadeja has been left out of the Indian ODI team.

Ravindra Jadeja has played his last limited overs match for the Indian team with his team. The selectors have expressed their support for the new team management of head coach Gautam Gambhir behind this decision, who want to give a chance to young players in place of Jadeja.

Jadeja was not included in the Indian team for the three-match ODI series, which included captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

At the time of this controversy, other big names like Bumrah and Hardik Pandya also remained out of the team, who were playing an important role in India’s ending the drought for the ICC trophy after more than a decade.

Jadeja has played an important role in his cricketing career for India. He has played 354 ODIs since his debut in 2009, including 197 in which he himself has been involved.

Apart from this, he also made his reputation with his bowling and batting in important tournaments like the World Cup.

A BCCI source said, “Only six ODIs are left before next year’s Champions Trophy, including three ODIs in Sri Lanka. The selectors are fond of giving this time to big candidates.”

There is no complaint about Jadeja’s performance. Since the 2019 World Cup, he has scored 644 runs and taken 44 wickets in 44 matches.

His fielding abilities are also appreciated, which makes him a complete cricketer.

The source said, “There is nothing wrong with Jadeja’s performance. The management just wants to consider other options, as we have to build a team for the future.”

Despite this, the BCCI selectors believe that the team should be rewarded for showing a new color, in which young players like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar should be given a chance.
