“Being in the Super Eight is a big relief – it was not easy to play cricket here. We had to stay till the end in all the three games. We will take a lot of confidence from these wins.”

The Indian captain praised all the three key players and lauded Suryakumar for taking an aggressive approach while chasing the target.

He further added, “He showed that his game is different, that’s what you expect from experienced players. Credit to the way he took the game forward today and got us the win.”

Rohit said that the pacers were expected to dominate, so the team decided to give Dube a chance as well. “You need options and we should be able to use them whenever possible. Today the pitch was favourable to the pacers, so we wanted to use them.”

Talking further about his bowling plans, the left-arm bowler said, “The plan was to bowl the ball on a tighter length. In such conditions, you can use the wicket more.”

USA’s acting captain Aaron Jones said that his team was competitive but fell short by a few runs. “We fell short by 10-15 runs. If we had scored 130 runs it would have been a difficult score, sometimes that’s how it is. The players were very disciplined, really proud of the bowling unit.”

“It feels good, this is what we wanted for USA Cricket, enjoying it. We will now prepare again, have some meetings and come back stronger,” he said.
