Rahul Dravid, known for his visible and selfless processes as the head coach and ‘gentleman’ of Indian cricket, has recently enhanced his character once again.
In fact, he has decided to give up half of his Rs 5 crore reward from the Rs 125 crore amount announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the team that wins the T20 World Cup.
This decision reveals his special selflessness and collaborative spirit. Dravid had proposed to BCCI to reduce his cash reward by Rs 2.5 crore, thereby demonstrating his generous heart and true determination.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Dravid had also proposed to the board to reduce his cash reward by Rs 2.5 crore. With this determination, he made it clear that he does not want more money in the form of batting, bowling and fielding coaching.
A BCCI source said, “Rahul wanted the same bonus amount (Rs 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mahambre, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiments.”
This new decision of Rahul Dravid reflects his benevolent thinking and social circle in the Indian cricket world. His unique and different thinking puts him in a unique position, where he not only values the game but also a liberal and broad approach based on it.
This new initiative of Rahul Dravid is extremely important to note, as he has already shown leadership and decisiveness during his illustrious career in Indian cricket.
In 2018, he had proposed a cut in his award after leading India’s Under-19 team to the World Cup.
Dravid was supposed to get Rs 50 lakh at that time, while the players were supposed to get around Rs 30 lakh each and other support staff Rs 20 lakh each.
But Dravid refused such a division, forcing the BCCI to give the same reward percentage to everyone.
