He said that Hardik does not need to be sad about this decision, but instead it should be seen in the bigger picture.

Robin Uthappa says that after knowing Hardik Pandya personally, he will feel that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the best for Hardik.

Along with this, chief selector Ajit Agarkar told that Hardik Pandya’s fitness and availability was the reason for not keeping him in any leadership role in white ball formats.

Sharing his thoughts with NDTV, Uthappa said,

“If I am 34 or 35 years old and I am someone who has been battling injuries throughout my career and a certain responsibility has been taken away from me with the mindset of extending my career, it has given me the best opportunity to serve my country for as long as possible. Keeping that in mind, I would really say it is the best thing for me.”

Uthappa further added, “Knowing Hardik Pandya personally I would say he would be the player who would be like ‘okay, his attitude is also right’. They want a player of my level and ability to serve the country for as long as possible, I would also like to do that.”

Further, Uthappa expressed his opinion and said that “If you ask me which of these two I would choose, I would say representing my country and winning as many World Cups as possible, regardless of whether I am the captain or just a player.”
