Mohammed Shami, this experienced bowler of the Indian cricket team has a strong face in his name, but the recent events in his personal life have made him face challenges.
The controversy in Shami’s life for the last few months has made him face great difficulties.
Shami recently came into the news in the media for taking money from a Pakistani woman.
Apart from this, his wife Hasin Jahan also complained to the police against him on charges of domestic violence. These incidents brought Shami’s career and life to a new turn.
His friend Umesh Kumar recently revealed in a podcast that Shami had thoughts of suicide during these incidents.
Umesh said, “Shami was fighting everything at that time. He shared his difficulties with me. It was a time in his life when he was very depressed and stressed.”
During that time Shami was fighting everything. He lived with me in my house. But when the allegations of match-fixing with Pakistan came out and the investigation happened that night, he broke down. He said I can tolerate everything but not the allegations of betraying my country.”
He further added, “It also came in the news that he wanted to do something big that night [take his own life]. Around 4 am I woke up to drink water. I was going towards the kitchen when I saw him standing in the balcony. We were staying on the 19th floor. I understood what had happened. I think that night was the longest in Shami’s career. Later, one day, when we were talking, a message came on his phone saying that he has got a clean chit from the committee investigating the case. Maybe he was happier that day than he would have been if he had won the World Cup.”
Shami also talked about his struggle and the guideline he followed at that time.
He said, “It depends on what you give more priority to and then on the other person how true his words are. So when you know that the actions of the other person are invalid and not important to you, you should not give up your priorities.
If I was not Mohammed Shami today, no one would have cared about my position and neither would the media have any interest in it. Then why should I give up the thing that made me Shami. So you should keep fighting.”
Shami says that he has always realized the priorities of his career.
He said, “Sometimes we start paying more attention to things than our position, but I think we should always stay connected to our goals.”
Despite all these issues, Shami has made significant contributions in his cricket career. He has played many important roles for the Indian team and his bowling has been respected.
Shami has learned from his struggle that facing every challenge in life makes us stronger. He also gave the message that if we have faith and we are on the right path, then we can deal with any problem.
