Adding a new chapter to Indian cricket, Gautam Gambhir, while speaking to reporters in his first press conference today, made it clear that he is very happy to work as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
Replacing Rahul Dravid earlier this year, Gambhir said that his goal is to help the team play in a safe and happy environment.
During Dravid’s coaching tenure, the team has achieved many important achievements, such as becoming runners-up in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Test Championship. Along with this, the Indian women’s team has also achieved significant achievements during its coaching tenure.
That’s why experts say, “Gambhir inherited the successful Indian team”. In this context, Gambhir spoke without naming anyone.
Gambhir explained his plan of work right from the beginning of his coaching work. “My goal is to make the team successful in different formats, be it Test, ODI or T20,” he said.
Gambhir told reporters at a press conference in Mumbai, “The most important thing is that they will always support me. My goal is to make it a happy and safe dressing room. I am leading a very successful team. Runners-up in the WTC and 50-over World Cup. I have to work in big positions and I am excited for it.”
Along with this, Gambhir mentioned Abhishek Nair and Ryan Ten Doeschate as his assistant coaches and said that he has great hope in working with them. Gambhir’s first tenure will be in the upcoming white-ball series between India and Sri Lanka.
Team India has appointed Suryakumar Yadav as the new captain of the T20I team, while Shubman Gill appears as his vice-captain. With this new journey, Gambhir has shown that his constant enthusiasm and coaching ability has given him the ability to bring a new era in Indian cricket.
It is hoped that this new message for Team India under his leadership will bring a new chapter in the world of cricket.
