He spoke openly about the reasons behind this and also mentioned his mental state.
Ishan told that he had to face many ups and downs in the last few months, due to which he was dropped from the team and his central contract was also cut.

He said, “It was disappointing. Today I do not want to say that everything was fine. It was not easy for me at all. You suffer a lot. All this kept going on in my mind that what will happen, why did it happen, why with me? All these things happened when I was performing.”
He also spoke about his break, “I supported this decision because I did not have stability in my mind. There was travel fatigue and I took a break keeping this in mind.”
He also admitted that it is very important for him to play international cricket and he has to perform well for this.
Ishan also talked about his mental state and said, “All this was very difficult, I used to feel lonely. But I am ready to move on and considering it as a new beginning, I am preparing for the next step.”
He said, “I took a break and I think it was normal. The rule is that if you want to make a comeback, you have to perform well in domestic cricket. It is as simple as that. Now, it was very different for me to play domestic cricket because it was not making any sense. I was not in the mood to play and so I took a break from international cricket. It does not make sense that you take a break from international cricket and then play domestic matches. Then you would have played international matches.”
