He said that he and Gautam Gambhir have a very “lovely relationship” and this relationship started from the IPL days when he played under Gambhir’s captaincy for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014. Surya admitted that Gambhir understands his game mindset very well and has always inspired him.
Suryakumar Yadav said in this video,
“This relationship with Gambhir is very special, because when I went to IPL 2014, I played under his leadership for KKR. It was special, because I got a chance to play for that franchise. My relationship is still strong with him.
But he knows how I work, what is my mindset when I come to practice with him and how he tries to work. As a coach, it’s all about the lovely relationship between us and I am very excited to see how it grows further.”
Suryakumar Yadav also shared important things about his leadership style. He said that the most important lesson from sports is to remain humble in the situation of success or failure.
He stressed that good or bad performance on the field is only a part and more important is how you balance your life.
The beginning of this new era is a positive sign for Indian cricket. Gautam Gambhir’s coaching and Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, both are set to give a new direction to Indian cricket.
