However, during the game the team had difficulty in maintaining its momentum and could not show itself in the playoffs against RCB. Despite this, Gaikwad has shown sublime enthusiasm and determination to shoulder his new burden of responsibility.
In a video released by BCCI, talking about his cricket career, Gaikwad said,
“Nothing much has really changed, batting has remained the same. It’s all about playing with responsibility and finishing it on your own, so nothing has changed. It just depends on how you approach the game each time.
You are more involved in the game now because you have captained an IPL franchise for a long time. So, you stay in the game for a longer period of time rather than just staying out on the boundary and focusing on one ball. As I said, it hasn’t made much of a difference.”
Gaikwad, who was born in Pune, is now finding himself more involved especially in the Indian Premier League. His performances show that he has now understood his new role and is ready to succeed in it.
