During the match, Virat Kohli also showed bravery and scored 76 runs off 59 balls, saving the Indian team from its difficult situation. He was declared the ‘Player of the Match’, on which former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar made a sharp comment, saying “He was saved by the bowlers”

Manjrekar said about this, Manjrekar said,

“India was in a losing position, there were 90 percent chances of winning (for South Africa). The complete change really saved Virat Kohli’s innings as he played almost half the innings with a strike-rate of 128. My Player of the Match would have been a bowler because he really pulled the game out of the jaws of defeat and won it for India.”

He said, “If India had lost there, I think Virat Kohli would have been criticized a lot. After half the match I felt that India had done enough and it would be very difficult for South Africa to achieve this target.”
