Former BCCI selector Sandeep Patil has sought help from the board to take action in this matter. In his column in Mid-Day, he wrote that Gaekwad has received financial assistance from the BCCI, but more help is needed in addition to this.

Patil said that he has spoken to the BCCI treasurer and informed him about Anshuman Gaekwad’s condition. They are hoping that the board will take appropriate steps in this matter and provide support for Gaikwad’s treatment.

Patil wrote, “Ashish Shelar immediately said that he will consider our and other former cricketers’ request for funds. I am sure he will make it possible and save Anshu’s life despite the risk of sounding paranoid. Any cricketer from any country should be helped by his board, but Anshu’s case should be prioritized and considered paramount.”

Sandeep Patil also wrote in his column that Gaikwad had spent a lot of good times with Sachin Tendulkar during his coaching. Under his leadership, India won the runner-up medal in the 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy.
