Former Indian cricket team opener Gautam Gambhir has strongly presented his claims that he is a candidate for the post of Indian head coach.
Gambhir gave his interview to the Cricket Advisory Committee on Tuesday and with this, an official round has been announced to be held on Wednesday.
The cricket world is now waiting for the announcement of who will be selected as the new head coach, but Gambhir’s name is rising at the top. He said that he has the experience and ability to play this role, especially in the T20 format.

Along with this, experienced Indian cricket veteran Aakash Chopra has also warned those players who can become part of the team under Gambhir’s leadership. He has described players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja as important for the Indian team despite being old.
Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel, “Gautam Gambhir has proved his claim. He is the best candidate for this post and we have also understood him.”
If Gambhir gets this opportunity, he can manage the team till the 2027 ODI World Cup. Chopra said about this, “In the next three to four years, when the 2027 World Cup comes, you have to prepare your team for that. There will also be a World Test Championship in 2027 and a T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. So a very important roadmap has to be prepared.”
During this, he talked about preparing for the change and said, “It will not be easy, because it is said that change is the most difficult. The most important thing is not to let the performance decline at the time of change. Secondly, change happens properly when you communicate well, because you need to explain the reasons to the players who are being retained and those who are being released.”
