Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has hit back at former Australia captain Ricky Ponting for his prediction.
Ponting had claimed that Australia will beat India 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Shastri has objected to this and made his prediction in favour of India.
In an episode of ICC Review, Ravi Shastri said,
“The five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia is going to be very exciting. Remember, India have beaten Australia twice on the last two tours and Australia have not won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for almost a decade and that is why a face-off between these two giants of Test cricket in the last five to eight years will be awaited by everyone.”
The five-match Test series between India and Australia will begin on 22 November 2024 in Perth. The final Test of the series will be played in Sydney on June 3, 2025.
India had performed brilliantly on the last two tours to Australia, breaking a 32-year Australian winning streak at the Gabba.
There is tremendous excitement among cricket fans about this series between the two leading Test teams of the world.
The India vs Australia Test series will be one of the most exciting contests in the history of Test cricket.
